Fire spells are sometimes resisted but also many noticeable creatures are weak to it. With Ordinator perks you can get around the immunity these enemies have. They don't have a true built-in special effect and the execute perk isn't very practical. I also feel that you should focus on taking an enemy out, not affect them.
